Autozamm - Drama Queen

Autozamm - Drama Queen

Autozamm's sophomore effort "Drama Queen" is an impressive collection of songs that vary in style and atmosphere. There are brilliant pop-gems ("Disco" and "Killer Shoes"), big rock-tunes ("Drama Queen" and "Mess of a Mind") and beautiful and subtle songs ("Ways to Run" and "Unto thee my Lady"), respectively. It's very hard to name a standout track here since all ten songs are solid, captivating and enjoyable compositions. Lead vocalist Nick Major's voice is at times a dead ringer to that of Daniel Johns' of Silverchair and a few of the tracks would feel right at home on Silverchair's superb "Young modern". The massive "Mess of a mind" being one of them.

One of the trademarks of a great album in my opinion is that it doesn't seem like one on first listen. It needs to grow on you. "Drama queen" is one of those albums. And trust me, it grows on you pretty damn fast. And once it's inside your head, each listen will leave you feeling happy, satisfied and reaching for the play button for another spin. And another, and another…

Autozamm have created an album that is nothing short of brilliant. Rarely have I come across an album that combines so many different genres of music. The diversity of musical styles is a bit confusing at first but ends up being the album's forté. It prevents it from getting old. Ten tracks like "Disco" might be the flavour of the month but a stylistic range as wide as this guarantees that "Drama queen" has enough flavour to last for years.

Bottom line: This is a BIG album that will dominate your player of choice for a long time.
