Fat Freddy's Drop - Based On A True Story

Fat Freddy's Drop - Based On A True Story

Fat Freddy's Drop... I'm feeling the pressure. But it can't be anything like what the band were feeling at the level of anticipation for this debut album release. FFD consistently produce fine sounds within a genre they've carved as their own, ranging from sublime r'n'b, reggae, soul, jazz and dub to hip hop. Until now, they've done so with sparse radio releases and the odd 12" single. This album doesn't need much sales pitch - it entered the charts at #1 with little, if any, advertising. The band keep long-time fans guessing with some re-worked versions of Hope and This Room, and you'll recognise Ernie as previously released on the Whopper Chopper album as Willow Tree. There are seven more tracks of chilled out goodness including Roady featuring Ladi6 and P Digsss and the slow-funk jam Flashback. Recorded at Mu's Lyall Bay 'bach', the album is released on the band's own label The Drop and distributed via Rhythmethod.
