Katchafire - Slow Burning

This second offering from Aotearoa's hardest working reggae band, is an awesome follow up to their first album Revival, which famously achieved double platinum sales in 2003. Aiming less for a pop-like sound and focusing on a more roots, laid back, old school Trojan style, with their skanking brass section, has added depth to the quality of the previous album. This eight piece from Hamilton, is fronted by both Jamie Ferguson and Logan Bell who take turns singing lead vocals, adding an extra dimension to the album as a whole. The first single taken from this album is Rude Girl which surprises with its latin influence and toasting by Tuff Enchant, but holds true to a roots vocal style. The cover slip of a book of matches, pays homage to the classic Bob Marley album sleeve from which they took their name. This work is beautifully produced by Chris Macro, previously of The Dubious Bros, at WINTEC Studios H Town, for Mai Music and distributed by Shock Records.
