Katchafire - Revival
Twelve tracks of stunning, polished New Zealand flavoured reggae pop. The Waikato sensation that is Katchafire have come through with the goods on Revival, their debut album through Mai Music. By now Katchafire are well enough known to skip major introductions, suffice to say they are an authentic roots reggae revivalist band and display a true love of reggae music. Their works are obviously steeped in a lifetime of reggae, soul, R'n'B, jazz. Beautiful and vibrant instrumentation is coupled with raw heartfelt vocals, the ever present skanking guitar and a powerful message of unity and honesty. To me this is down to earth and genuine Polynesian soul. Bob Marley covers, a sensimellia song, hit singles Giddy Up, Who You With plus many more memorable songs which could well become hit singles makes for an excellent package. The cover art is also excellent. Reviva' is exactly what the title promises.
