Jazz Concert 1950
This was a recording almost ahead of its time - Recorded at the Auckland Town Hall on the 7th August 1950, it was transmitted by phone to the Astor Recording Studio in Shortland St Auckland.
Although originally recorded and issued on 78, this landmark concert was then reissued in 1994 on cassette tape. However the transcript for it was at the wrong speed and the compare sounded as though he was on helium and the instruments were several notes high, so this CD edition is the first time it has been issued to play at the correct speed as recorded!...
