Bio

Bruce Mason is one of the most important New Zealand playwrights of the 20th Century. Mason wrote more than 35 plays, several of which have become classics including The End of the Golden Weather.
Using the setting of Takapuna Beach in the 1930's, the play is about growing up in New Zealand during the Depression, and the happiness of childhood is set against a backdrop of social unrest. Golden Weather tells the story of the loss of innocence and of human fallibility. It's characters are actually drawn, and there are magnificent passages of poetic prose.
