Sven Olsen's Brutal Canadian Love Saga have released Songs From The Bottom of a Hilltop, available here as a 2 disc, 16 song collection accompanied by a full colour, 80pp, paperback book of
illustrated lyrics.
What began as an excuse for a catch-up with distant friends, turned into a multiyear odyssey of home recording for Nigel Beckford and Clyde Clemett. The songs were recorded an instrument at a time every Sunday afternoon for five years with various Saga members.
Wellington photographer Fleur Wickes and American animator/filmmaker Jacob Perkins spent another year creating the artwork for the book.
Songs From The Bottom of A Hilltop was eventually mixed and mastered in
Dunedin by Dale Cotton, who had the unenviable task of wrangling years' worth of recording from a variety of formats.
