Miho Wada South Island Jazz Summer Tour

Miho Wada South Island Jazz Summer Tour

Punk-ninja jazz flautist Miho Wada and her band Miho's Jazz Orchestra are excited to kick-off their first ever South Island Summer Tour!  Performing first at the Nelson Jazz Festival with her full Jazz Orchestra, Miho will then travel south for a quartet performance at the Diamond Harbour Concert Series, followed by two intimate acoustic trio shows in Christchurch, her adopted hometown and the city where she grew up.  Releasing her first full-length jazz album Wanderland in June 2012, Miho will not only be playing her favourite songs from this album, but  will also perform brand new original and unrecorded material from her recently published score book Play M!HO Book 2.

Thanks to the group's amazing sponsors, absolutely ALL SHOWS are FREE ENTRY!  So come and dance away to some feel-good tunes, or simply enjoy a relaxing summer chill-out!

Prolific and highly acclaimed flautist Miho Wada has performed internationally with artists such as Nigel Kennedy, Iggy Pop, and members of Buena Vista Social Club.  Described as one of the most entertaining jazz acts in New Zealand, Miho's Jazz Orchestra fuses Miho's original style of "Afro-Cuban flute meets J-Pop" with players from different genres - an eccentric funky electric violin, deep and moving classical cello, warm Brazilian bass, acoustic folk guitar, and stylish jazz drums.  Romantic and badass all in one, Miho's dynamic pocket-sized Jazz Orchestra will keep everyone dancing and waltzing, from toddlers to the young at heart.

"Wada is the real deal when it comes to a world class flautist""
- Brent Black, Critical Jazz, U.S.A. (Aug 2012)
