New Zealand at AWME 2012

AWME (Australasian Worldwide Music Expo) will take place in Melbourne from 15-18 November, 2012.

Celebrating its fifth year in 2012, AWME has cemented itself as the southern hemisphere's premier roots music industry showcase, conference and trade event. The primary emphasis of the event is to provide a platform to foster stronger relationships with music industry associates by bringing together musicians, industry partners/representatives and festival audiences from all corners of the globe for four days of non-stop music, networking, film screenings and conference sessions.

Travelling over from New Zealand to perform at the festival are; The House of Shem, Iva Lamkum and Ladi6.

Alongside individual performances here will also be a New Zealand Showcaseon Friday 16 November which will feature live performances from; Iva Lamkum, Ladi6, DJ Oakley 'OG' Grenell and House of Shem. The showcase being presented by Creative New Zealand is being held at Hi Fi on Friday the 16th of November.

Also featuring at AWME is a panel discussion, Mana Maori to the World, exploring explores the recent history of contemporary Maori music, the diversity of Maori musical expression, a framework that ties it all together and the Maori music industry's international aspirations. Live performances from Waiata Maori artists: Wai, Apanui, Kirsten Te Rito and Iwi highlight the first wave of Waiata Maori artists taking Mana Maori to the World. The Panel is being held on Sunday the 18th at 11.00am in the Arts Centre Melbourne.
