Dunedin's Radio One 91FM Introduces New Programme On New Local Produce

Radio One 91FM is pleased to announce the arrival of Just Landed, their newest new music programme, beaming out of their Dunedin studio every Tuesday morning from 9-10am. Join your host Aaron Hawkins and a revolving panel of experts and enthusiasts from around the country as they pull out the critical microscope and take to task the latest in local musical produce.
"I have long been an advocate of increasing the space dedicated to dialogue about all art forms," says Hawkins. "Criticism for criticism's sake is vital for the long-term health of the music scene in this country. Too often in New Zealand, when it comes to talking about our local music community, both traditional and digital media outlets gravitate towards extremes of blinkered parochial praise or petulant disapproval. With Just Landed what we are trying to do is forge a coherent and constructive middle ground."
Radio One thanks New Zealand On Air for their support with producing this project. At the beginning of the year, NZOA made a pool of funding available to "alternative radio" stations, to develop and produce radio that championed difference and diversity in New Zealand music, and featured music not generally heard on mainstream commercial radio stations. "Finding hidden pockets of great New Zealand music and putting them on a pedestal is as important to us as questioning the myriad hype machines and their Next Big Things" says Hawkins. "Just Landed is an opportunity to boil both of these missions down into a weekly one hour dose."
