Fly My Pretties National Tour With New Cast & Fresh Concept

Phoenix Drinks and Loop are proud to announce that New Zealand's most loved musical collective are set to take flight once again. Having not ventured out since early 2009, Fly My Pretties are back with a re-imagined show, new cast and wealth of new songs.
The fresh concept will see the 16-strong cast collaborate with celebrated contemporary visual artist, Hayley King (Flox). Audiences can expect a completely new production, from re-imagined costumes, to unique boundary-pushing visuals.
In Act I, Flox will interpret each song from the new album into iconic images, which will be uniquely brought to life both during the performance and as an exhibition of original limited edition prints in the theatre foyers.
In Act II, Fly My Pretties will deliver a set filled with a range of their classics plus a few surprises from Live At Bats, The Return Of... and A Story.
Led by Barnaby Weir, the latest Fly My Pretties family will combine an exciting and diverse mix of established and up-and-coming New Zealand talent, with performances in Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland.
"Fly My Pretties will head in an inspiring new direction but still stay true to past shows," says Barnaby Weir. I'm really excited about this show because we have a new cast of personalities and a highly skilled visual artist to collaborate with too."
Thanks to Creative New Zealand, the tour will be truly national with Fly My Pretties receiving an earthquake emergency assistance grant to perform two Christchurch shows inside the Geo Dome at Hagley Park.
Fly My Pretties will also be working with the Heart Strings project. Heart Strings have created seven guitars crafted from the timber of historic and iconic Christchurch buildings devastated by the recent earthquakes.
To support Heart Strings, Fly My Pretties will be adopting The Epicentre Guitar. The guitar visually references the 7.1 earthquake's epicentre, includes a selection of historic timbers and pays a special homage to the emergency services for their tireless effort in response to the earthquakes. Fly My Pretties will be incorporating The Epicentre Guitar into the upcoming tour, playing it onstage and also including it within the exhibition.
All seven guitars will be auctioned off on 24 November, with proceeds going towards a fund set up to support the Christchurch Arts and music community.
Once again, all shows will be filmed and recorded live for release as a limited edition deluxe set in early 2012.
Tickets will be officially available on Wednesday 3 August. Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch tickets will be on sale at http://www.ticketek.co.nz, whilst Dunedin tickets will be at http://www.ticketdirect.co.nz
