Mission Estate Concert Date Announced For 2012

The date for the much anticipated 20th Anniversary Mission Estate Winery Concert has been confirmed as Saturday 25 February 2012.
Sports and Entertainment Limited Director of Operations Garry Craft says the date announcement is the first of a series of exciting announcements planned for the coming weeks.
Mission Estate Winery will announce the artist for the 2012 concert in July and tickets will go on sale to concert club members on the day. Mission Concert guests are warned that the artist announcement is going to be big and if they're not already a member, they should consider becoming one now. The Mission Concert has a proud tradition of presenting the best of international talent in the unique and beautiful Mission setting, and this tradition will certainly be upheld in 2012.
Mr Craft says the date announcement allows concert fans to start planning accommodation and travel for next year's concert immediately.
"Hawke's Bay is always overwhelmed by demand for accommodation during the weekend of the concert and we are pleased to be able to confirm the date to help both concert fans and the local tourism industry."
This year the Mission Concert website will again feature a Free Accommodation Listing Service which provides fans with a range of accommodation options, listed by local property owners and agents.
For two decades, the Mission Estate Concert has set the bar, not only attracting the biggest number of music fans annually but some of the world's biggest entertainers.
From the very beginning in 1993 with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, the Mission Concert established itself as a premier event and every year since has delivered talent unrivalled by any other event in New Zealand.
Dionne Warwick, Ray Charles, Kenny Rodgers, Shirley Bassey, Julio Iglesias, The Beach Boys, The Doobie Brothers, The Hollies and Lulu, Engelbert Humperdinck, Sir Cliff Richard, John Farnham, B52s, Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, Eric Clapton, the legends of Motown and Sting have entertained a 25,000-strong crowd and they have basked in the glory of their accolades.
These iconic entertainers have enjoyed the event as much as the fans have enjoyed them.
Nestled against the backdrop of the picturesque Greenmeadows foothills on the outskirts of Napier and set in a natural amphitheatre of a winery steeped in its own history, the concert is like a very good vintage; just getting better with age. It's become THE place to meet up at the end of summer break and to forge new friendships with people who share the love of the good things in life.
"The Mission Estate Concert is magic because it is many things to so many people. It has an initial slightly formal picnic feel to it, but as the excitement builds it becomes a more casual outing ... perfect for laughter, meeting up with friends, good wine and song of course. It is a party with lots of guests and the very best of entertainment," says a fan.
Mission Estate Chief Executive Peter Holley says "we are very proud to continue to be associated with SEL and the ongoing success of the annual Mission concert. The Mission setting makes the concert a unique experience as New Zealand's premier music event."
