Tommy Ill Signed To EMI

Tommy Ill is a svelte yet metaphorically obese young man that has earned a reputation for haphazard live sets and humorous tales that document the foibles of your average, slightly awkward fellow with Dionysian-leaning tendencies.

"Hello, my name is Tommy Ill, and I am a rapper from Wellington. I've been doing it for quite a while now. People seem to like it. I don't rap about guns, drugs or bling. I'm more likely to rap about girls. Girls and drinking. Girls, drinking and phone bills."

Having already released three EPs and one album, Toast & Tea Kettles (Empathy Recordings) in 2007, Matchsticks (LOOP) in 2008, Come Home Mr. Ill (LOOP) in 2009, and the self-titled album Tommy Ill (LOOP) in 2010, the alternative rapper from Wellington has such a unique and inventive approach that has always gained him attention.

Live Tommy Ill is a force to be reckoned with. He has performed at shows like Campus A Low Hum, the Big Day Out and Homegrown and has made live guest appearances with many bands including So So Modern, Cut Off Your Hands, Holiday With Friends and Heat Like Me.

With all that under his belt what's one more notch? EMI Music New Zealand have now signed Tommy Ill and look forward to many happy years together.

"I am stoked as to be working with EMI, my friend told me they are good as. Mikee Tucker is my manager and he says that I am making excellent life choices. I'm looking forward to getting super rich so I can finally buy Buck a racing car and get Shorty K the butt enhancement operation he tells me he needs. Also this year my goal is to start a fist fight with a c-list celebrity. WATCH OUT DAI HENWOOD I AM COMING FOR YOU."
