The Aviators Album Release Tour

The Aviators Album Release Tour

The Aviators have spent almost a decade electrifying dance floors with way more funk than their seven pale bodies would seem to contain. They've played massive crowds on mainstages at Rhythm & Vines, Splore and Parihaka music festivals, in Civic Square for Wellington New Year, at the Botanic Gardens for Summer City, and live to air nationwide, in animalcostume, for the Big Night In Telethon.

But all good things must come to an end: It's time to close the book on the epic adventure-tale that was The Aviators. While the band are understandably upset at the idea of fewer man-hugs, less procrastination-in-the-form-of-frisbee and, of course, the calling off of future intergalactic musical odysseys in each other's company; new life experiences, overseas escapades and musical collaborations beckon.

The Aviators have a passionate and loyal fan base, and they wouldn't dream of leaving without a proper good-bye. They're playing almost every town in the South Island (even busking in Timaru) and a few select shows in the North Island, to release their second full-length album The Ballad Of Sour Jayne. They say behind every good man, there's a great woman. In this case, behind seven great men there once stood a woman of awe-inspiring stature and grace - Sour Jayne. The album is a tribute to the bus that took them everywhere (don't call her a van), who rocked them to sleep with the hum of her motor, and who now lives in a happy home in Levin.

These are the last shows these boys are likely to ever play together; you can guarantee each one will be absolutely unforgettable. They've never played to an empty dancefloor, and they're not aboutto start now.
