Titirangi Festival Of Music

From 31 March to 3 April, Titirangi comes alive with the 2011 Titirangi Festival of Music, showcasing international acts from Australia, Europe and the Pacific alongside the finest local talent.
The Barons of Tang, SandersAlleyGeiling, Macombee & the Absolute Truth, Pacific Curls, An Emerald City, Carolina Moon, Home Brew Crew, Whirimako Black, Yebiisu, and The Big Muffin Serious Band headline the concerts and cabarets.
An array of both established and emerging artists, including The Logger Boys, Lauren Thomson, Great North, Dylan Storey, Deep River and Mandy Patmore will perform at Acoustic Smoothie on Friday 1 April.
Don't miss Titirangi's famous Open Mic/Jam Night on Friday 1 April featuring The Electric Car and Chillele, or the legendary Late Night Festival Club with Freaky Meat's mix of beat poetry and eclectic musical styles on Friday 1 April and the LIPPIZANEaRS, exponents of free jazz on Saturday 2 April.
On Thursday 31 March the Young Guns concert at Zeal in Henderson will showcase top young talent from West Auckland high schools, while at the top of Lopdell House "rhythm & verse" presents Linn Lorkin & Hershal Herscher, Bill Manhire, Janet Charman, Simone Kahu and Jason Morales.
Enjoy daily street performances by Luke Hurley, Matt Reece, Arli Liberman and Llovisna Jazz and a variety of workshops for all ages including making musical instruments from junk (Andrew Hall), performance (Toni Geiling), guitar masterclass (Dave Alley & Jon Sanders), specialist ukulele workshop (Dave Parker), hand drumming (Fraser Bruce), medieval songs (Carolina Moon) and music marketing (Philipp Jaser).
Music Cinema Matinees on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 April in Lopdell House Theatre will present films by Robin Kewell, Tony Gatliff, Jamie Catto and Duncan Bridgeman, as well as The Tool Room at the Hardware Café which once more showcases some of the finest Auckland jazz around including flautist Trudy Lile & Mojave and popular jazz funk group Bluetrain led by renowned keyboardist Alan Brown on Friday 1 and Sat 2 April.
