The Naked And Famous Win NME Award

The Naked And Famous Win NME Award

We at the Amplifier Towers have been closely following developments in this year's NME Awards and have been pretty darned excited at one in particular! Here's a take of the event, coming straight from NME:

"The Naked And Famous have won the Philip Hall Radar Award at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2011. The band were presented with the award at London's O2 Academy Brixton. The honour is given to the band who are deemed the most worthy to have graduated from the pages of NME's Radar magazine over the past year.

Guitarist Thom Powers spoke on behalf of the band as their other singer Alisa Xayalith waved the trophy in the air.

"Now I understand why we were sitting right there," Powers said, referencing the band's table location. "Thank you very much. I'm not even sure anybody even knew who we were here. We're not from around here, but cheers!"

The five-piece are currently on a mammoth UK/Euro tour and will release their debut album Passive Me, Aggressive You in the UK next month."

Congratulations to our honourable nationals who make up The Naked And Famous!
