Sounds Aotearoa Reveal Scholarship Recipients

Sounds Aotearoa, the two-day music extravaganza in Taranaki has announced the recipients of their scholarship programme, designed to nurture emerging talent within the music industry. The Sounds Aotearoa scholarship allows motivated individuals with proven industry experience the opportunity to further their skills for the benefit of the New Zealand music industry at-large.

Graduating with a Diploma in Audio Engineering, Jeff Fulton began an
extensive career in the New Zealand music industry, including marketing and management roles for EMI NZ, New Zealand Music Commission and the Christchurch Industry Trust, as well as lecturing at MAINZ and CPIT Jazz School.

As a musician, Andre Manella honed his talent in the Swiss music industry before re-locating to New Zealand where he hopes to gain traction in the market for his original work, as well as utilizing his vast composing and sound engineering skills for an eclectic range of projects.

Calley Wilson is changing the live show format in New Zealand through her company My New Favourite. With a focus on removing the wall between artist and fan, Wilson stages multi-faceted shows combining performance, conversation and video. Her work within the music industry stems much further, too. As a promoter she has organized shows for the likes of Dave Dobbyn, Goldenhorse and Elemeno P, manages musician Matt Bodman and is currently interning for New Zealand's largest events - Big Day Out, New Zealand Winery Tour - to develop her professional skills further.

Sounds Aotearoa is providing a platform for New Zealand music professionals to learn from and network with industry leaders, as well as giving talented local musicians the opportunity to expose themselves to international ears.
