Returning home to New Zealand to tour and release their second album The Fourth in Summer 2011, Berlin-based band An Emerald City's sound has evolved and grown since the release of their debut Circa Scaria in 2009. Recorded in a former communist radio station on the banks of the river Spree in East Berlin, The Fourth shows a band unafraid to explore new dimensionsin sound and space.
The band take to the road over two months in the throws of a New Zealand summer playing 26 venues far and wide. Combining psychedelia and experimentation with Eastern scales and sounds from outer space, An Emerald City's unique style has further developed and matured in the writing of The Fourth, which is an album very different from what they have produced before.
Joining the tour for 14 of the shows to co-headline are Auckland five-piece The Checks. Fresh from winning a NZMA for best rock album of 2010, while still only in their early 20s and already veteran performers. This bluesy psychedelic explosion have played their way into becoming one of New Zealand's most adrenalised, vital and consistently thrilling live acts.
Also with support along the way in various locations from the likes of Die! Die! Die!, Popstrangers, Beastwars, Bond Street Bridge, The Pyramid Scheme , Kitsunegari, Shipwreck, The Transistors and Alizarin Lizard, this tour promises to be one of the highlight events of the summer.
