Already heralded as an "exceptional album" and "one of the handful of essential local albums of the year" by top music critics, Miriam Clancy's sophomore album, 'Magnetic' was released this week. Miriam is playing album release shows around the country with her band over the coming month.
A recent Auckland album launch show confirmed what we'd all suspected - this girl is a star! Envisioning Miriam on much larger stages was effortless as she steered the band through a set of mostly new songs and a rare cover of Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights delivered skillfully much to the audience's delight. With performances like that, Miriam Clancy with her band could hold any international stage of any capacity.
For the album, Miriam hand selected the stellar talents of members of SJD, Supergroove, Opensouls, Trinity Roots and more to help her bring her meticulously crafted songs to life. Expert engineer and co-producer on the album was Andre Upston (Bic Runga) and mastering was not left to chance with the expert skills of Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound in New York (Bob Dylan, Sonic Youth, John Mayer, Paul Simon).
Heralded as "Nashville's next big thing" on a national US Television show, Miriam now looks ready to dazzle the rest of the known universe with a constellation of truly magnetic new songs that can't help but stick to even the most repellent heart.
