[press release]

Celebrating the release of the single Gypsy, BlackSandDiva announce winter North Island dates and are happy to headline Funkin for Freedom - Amnesty International Beneft Concert - Saturday August 15th.

Gypsy is the second single from Chameleon, the debut album from the band with the reputation of eclectic and genre crossing sound that swings from funky jazz grooves to rocked up soul and folk rock. Led by the strong vocal presence of Piha songstress Cat Tunks, BlackSandDiva - Chameleon is one of the few albums played on commercial, National, and alternative and student radio stations, bridging the gap between jazz and mainstream audiences whilst staying true to their jazz roots.

Pleased to have a run of August/Sept dates before heading to Asia in October, the band then looks forward to returning with a South Island Tour in the silly season summer of 09/10 including a week at the Nelson Jazz Festival.
