NZ songwriters in final of international competition

It was announced yesterday that six NZ songwriters have been selected in the finals of the International Songwriting Competition. They are amongst 287 finalists in various categories and were selected from over 15,000 entries worldwide.
Judges in the competition include leading musicians and industry legends including Tom Waits, Ray Davies, Loretta Lynn, and legendary producer Steve Lillywhite.
The New Zealand finalists are:

'Don't Say A Word' - Denise Holl - Auckland - Lyrics Only
'Hospice For Destitute Lovers' - Steve Abel -New Zealand - Video
'Rere Reta' - Hareruia Abraham - Auckland - World Music
Tamahana' - Opetaia Foa'i - Auckland - World Music
Winners will be announced in April 2009. The overall winner will receive US$25,000.00 and a US$20,000.00 package of industry goods and services.
