Decortica debut album release + tour

21.10.08
Long anticipated, soon to be highly celebrated... Auckland's Decortica look destined to change the aged mould of the New Zealand rock scene with their 'call to arms' debut album, A New Aesthetic.
"A New Aesthetic" isn't simply another album title - it is a bold proclamation, a decree from the band who are looked upon as shifting the current perception of the Auckland music scene. Much like doctrine of the Futurist movement, the trio are young, strong, their music embracing the ideals of dynamism - questioning dated concepts.
Boasting lead off single "Peace May Come," which has been a staple in C4TV's video rotation, alongside the haunting melodies of "Synapse," the curious, somber "L" and live favorites "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence"
and "Macchina," the urgency of capturing their acclaimed live sound was a paramount issue for the band.
Working with esteemed producer David Holmes (Jakob, Gramsci, Battle
Circus) became an amalgamation of like minded thinkers where band and producer shared the same musical vocabulary which heralded a direct line of fluid communication many bands find difficult to capture upon their first album.
Holmes' approach led to a suggestion to live and work in a unique environment, recording their debut album in Raglan served as the perfect atmosphere to fully encompass the spirit of the recording - climate changes, serenity quickly turning into a violent, wild weather system, resonating with the songs.
As was the fatefulness which led friends and supporters of the band offering help wherever it was needed - be it equipment, constructive conversation or just belief in what was to be accomplished. The final result is an 11 track amalgamation of different tunings, layers of harmonies and a "new aesthetic" for the guitar based movement.
