Opshop Big Energy tour

13.06.08
Opshop have had amazing success since bursting onto the scene with their platinum debut album 'You Are Here' and with their follow up album Second Hand Planet going one step further, recently reaching double platinum status and still gracing the NZ Music charts 1 year after release.
Celebrating this huge success, OPSHOP are pleased to confirm their 18 date 'BIG ENERGY IN A CAN TOUR' throughout New Zealand. Each venue will have a Telecom Drop Zone for canned food donations which will be donated to the Salvation Army.
"We (Opshop) believe passionately that we want to make a tangible difference in communities throughout NZ, and with the help of the Salvation Army food banks nationwide, we are able to provide an easy mechanism to facilitate this. Its simple, pull a can of food out of the cupboard and throw it in the Telecom Drop Zone when you arrive at the gig. It helps the less fortunate out and it makes you full of warm fuzzies for winter just before the show" JASON KERRISON
Telecom Consumer Marketing General Manager David Craig said Telecom is pleased to be able to bring its support for OPSHOP and the community together on this tour. "OPSHOP's willingness to encourage New Zealanders to give to those less fortunate is something we admire and support," he said. Telecom supports over 1000 charities, of which the Salvation Army is one, with up to $5million in support each year via the Telecom Community Connection programme.
Joining Opshop on their Big Energy tour is the very talented and popular Goldenhorse. They too are one of NZ's top award winning and multi platinum selling bands whose first love is performing live, so this is going to be one heck of a combination. And to add even more weight to this line up, they are also delighted to be joined by a wonderfully talented singer/songwriter and friend LUKE THOMPSON.
