Solephonic / Solaa EP release party

31.07.07
Sugarlicks are having a friends & family party at Khuja Lounge to celebrate the release of our 2 latest pieces of Pacific Soul wax; Manuel Bundy's Solephonic project and the remix EP from the lovely Solaa crew.
Solaa incorporate a rare diversity of musicianship that stems from each members eclectic background in music. This is a group with combined experience in Big Band, latin, jazz & classical music, counting people such as Kurt Dyer, Lewis McCallum & Nick Gaffaney among their ranks. The brains & drive behind Solaa belong though to AK scene veteran & Opensouls member, trumpet player, songwriter, percussionist & man of many smiles, Isaac Aesili.
Solephonic AKA Manuel Bundy, The Don of Djing in NZ whether hip hop, house or otherwise. He has won more DJ awards than any other and has been a source of inspiration and knowledge for the scene since it started.
A fixture on the New Zealand dance music scene for nearly 20 years, Manuel (aka Manuel Matisi ) has toured the world as DJ of choice for artists such as Nathan Haines, Mark De
Clive Lowe and OMC. He has also provided beats and scratches for the likes of King Kapisi, Dam Native, Breaks Co-Op and Nuvonesia, as well as producing his own beats under the Solephonic moniker.
In other Sugarlicks news, here's a clip of brother J and Isaac Aesili TV appearance on national German music TV. It's of Brother J singing Spirit Rider in te reo Maori and English.
