Minuit touring, audiences dancing.
Das ist Kool!! The Kiwi band with the French name is jiggalin' hips in Berlin.
When our very own Minuit was in Europe late last year on tour, their video for FUJI was picked up by music TV in Berlin and got rapid play. Then radio in Berlin playlisted the track ravenously for the next 5 months.
But the proof is in the naked truth - on the stage.
So Minuit played the main room of London's FabricLive sessions alongside such breakbeat heroes as Adam Freeland, Stanton Warriors, and the Plump DJs. There were also indie-rocking MySpaceLive shows in Berlin; some jolly Irish clubbers in Cork; passionate singing in Norwegian; and shot-dropping packed-out clubs in Finland!
UK DJ Rennie Pilgrim admitted: "..this is just what our scene needs"
Minuit has an energetic and compelling live show - which prompted US breakbeat big guns The Crystal Method to remark of them: "Seeing Minuit rock the Boiler Room was the highlight of our tour down under!"
But in this carnivorous industry we all know a couple of pats on the back doesn't guarantee tu'pence, so Minuit are doing it the only way they know.. they're off to Europe again to play. And play and play.
In September they head to the Czech Republic, Finland, Spain, Berlin, France, Ireland and UK for more shows; samplers, sequencers and microphones bundled into their backpacks.
But before they go, they're doing a New Zealand national tour cos mumma needs some new shoes for Paris!
Minuit have been in Australia most of 2007. Vivacious band front person by night, Ruth Carr's day job is in fact - a builder; and she is currently somewhere deep in the Australian outback, building sets for Baz Luhrmann's new film titled 'Australia'. A recent note back to Tardus HQ read: "..Nicole Kidman is a lot taller than i thought, but i could still take her cos i'm wily..."
These will be some of the only NZ shows since their appearance at BDO, and some of the only local shows this year. Get along and jiggle them hips!
