Boh Runga & Carly Binding bring a new show to town

Boh Runga and Carly Binding – two of the country's finest songwriters and band frontwomen – will join forces to play an intimate series of shows at Auckland's Montecristo Room every Thursday in July.
"We've haunted enough Auckland bars together over the years," laughs Boh, "and doing a few songs together in one of them is something that has taken far too long to happen."
New Zealand Music Month brought the two good friends together to play for the first time when they recorded a set for Juice TV, including a stunning version of the Crocodiles' 'Tears'.
"We've set ourselves the task of finding some great covers to teach the band for this residency," says Carly. "At the same time, I am looking forward to joining in on a few of Boh's songs and seeing what she can add to mine. And every week we will have a different special guest to join us on stage for a song or two'
Boh and Carly can each boast of having a catalogue of modern day kiwi classics in their respective handbags. The promise of seeing them perform in the close yet comfortable surroundings of the Montecristo Room should be enough to have people lining up for the extremely limited number of tickets available for these shows.
Boh Runga has fronted multi-platinum chart-toppers Stellar* for the past decade. The group's three albums have featured hits she wrote including 'Violent', 'Part Of Me', 'Taken' and their radio airplay number one from last year, 'For A While'.
Since starting her solo career, Carly Binding has released two self-penned albums, the Gold-selling debut Passenger and last year's So Radiate. Her top ten hits include "Alright With Me", "We Kissed" and "Love Will Save Me". She recently returned from a success US trip, where she performed to critical acclaim at SXSW in Austin, and Hotel Cafe and The Viper Room in Los Angeles.
