The rumour mill has been running hot this morning over the future of hip hop label Dawn Raid Entertainment.
Dawn Raid have today issued the following Press Release:
"Andy Murane & Brotha D, founders of iconic label Dawn Raid, said today that they were working on future plans for the label.
"We apologise to everyone for the silence over the past few weeks, but we are working to ensure that the label will continue."
It' has been a difficult time but we will be talking with our artists & suppliers. We expect to announce further developments in the next 2-3 weeks"
Dawn Raid is home to several of NZ's most succesful hip-hop and soul acts including Savage, Deceptikonz, Adeaze, Aaradhna, Mareko and Ill Semantics to name but a few. Last July label supremo Brotha D was honoured with a Urban-Hero Lifetime Achievement Award at the Urban Music Awards in Australia. Besides music Dawn Raid also have interests in a street wear and graphic design company.
Amplifier attempted to contact Dawn Raid for comment however at the time of writing this article Dawn Raid's phone numbers were not functioning and their website was down. One of their artists did however say that they were expecting to meet with the label owners later this week to clarify their position.
