Outward Sound Recipients Round One 2007
Outward Sound has announced the first grant recipients for 2007. Phase Two grants, providing the opportunity for in-market performances and related business development, were awarded to The Phoenix Foundation (for the United States), and Arch Hill Recordings (to further expand upon the label's previous work in Australia).
Phase One market scoping grants were awarded to Connan and the Mockasins (for the UK), David Kilgour and the Heavy Eights (USA), and The Ruby Suns (UK/Europe). A number of acts performing at South By Southwest were also awarded grants - Bic Runga (SXSW/New York); Cut Off Your Hands (SXSW/Los Angeles/New York); Dimmer (SXSW/West Coast USA); Elemeno P (SXSW/Los Angeles/New York); and Gasoline Cowboy, pictured, (SXSW/Los Angeles).
An additional Instant Action grant was awarded to Deja Voodoo to perform at SXSW, allowing them to capitalise on the opportunities presented by their feature film The Devil Dared Me To screening at the festival..
Applications for the next round of Outward Sound grants close on April 30 at 5pm.
