Dawn Raid have a big night at the Australia and NZ Urban Music Awards

26.07.06 LABEL PRESS RELEASE - Dawn Raid has stamped its mark on the Australian music industry, winning three awards at the first ever Australia NZ Urban Music Awards on Friday, the most by any label present.

The inaugural UMA's were held Friday July 21, 2006 at Sydney's Olympic Park Sports Centre, and featured performances by Dawn Raid artists Savage, Aaradhna and Mareko.

Label godfather Brotha D was honoured with the Urban Hero-Lifetime Achievement Award, and presented with a one of a kind, custom built Gibson guitar. Straight from Gibson's Nashville factory, the guitar was decorated with traditional indigenous Australian patterns.

Savage proved his metal once again, winning Best Hiphop Album and Best R&B Single for his debut album MOONSHINE, and the single of the same name.

The accolades come after a knockout year on the Australian circuit for Savage. Moonshine sold gold, charted in the top ten, and was named the #1 most downloaded song and video in Australia. Moonshine is the most successful single in the history of Dawn Raid Entertainment, having accumulated 2x platinum sales in NZ after 7 weeks at #1 on the NZ chart, and is also Dawn Raid Entertainment's first Gold single in Australia.

Savage was also nominated for Best Male Artist & Best New Talent, Aaradhna for Best Female Artist, Deceptikonz for Best Hip Hop Group and Adeaze for Best R&B Group.
