ARTIST: Fat Freddy's Drop

'Fat Freddy's Drop throws a fun party. Get into it'- Erik Thybony, San Francisco Critic, USA

Fat Freddy's Drop's pirate soul train has seen them beat a resolutely independent path to the ears and feet of audiences around the globe for over a decade.

Formed in 1999 the Wellington seven-piece has never stuck to a script. Their sound draws inspiration from almost every part of the black music lexicon. Soul drenched vocals and jazz harmonies collide with tape delays and echo chambers, underpinned by a rhythm section as comfortable laying down a throbbing, techy soundscape as they are a swampy blues stomp.

It's an approach that demands a lot of performer and listener. According to DJ Fitchie, MPC & producer, Fat Freddy's Drop is the product of both the band's restless creativity, and New Zealand's geographic isolation.

"One of the upsides of being far away from the action and not having to deal with the weight of a strong musical history is that we don't feel we have to stick to one particular style or approach," Fitchie said...

The vinyl version of BOATS has been out of stock for a long time now. We'll check with The Drop but at the moment I don't think there are any plans to press more.

I recently bought B.O.A.T.S. from Sonar Kollektiv online, you could try their store. Had to ship it over from Berlin but it was totally worth it.

Mr Moon you can order the vinyl here:

www.amplifier.co.nz/release/46318/dr-boondigga-and-the-big-bw-double-vinyl.html

Please note - there is a delay on the vinyl as such we're unsure as to when it will be pressed and ready to ship

When viewing the CD artwork on the FFD website, Shiverman is also listed as track #2. Is it a misprint? I bought the MP3's and would like to know the correct track order for the optimally intended listening experience.

Whatever the track order, the music is amazing. Loving it in Hawaii, and wishing they would come to perform here!

What's the reason behind different prices for the MP3 tracks?

Mostly track length, but we also have to consider the cost of the complete digital bundle for the artist. iTunes restrict access to long tracks (available as part of the bundle only), we prefer to keep them all available individually.

Anyone know where I can get some high quality album art from for the new album? Can't find it on the web and iTunes doesn't have the album art either.
