ARTIST: Ishtar
Ishtar are a NZ Hard Rock group based out of Auckland. Musically cinematic, with stadium-esque riffs, big hooks and prodigious musical talents Ishtar's music draws comparisons to bands such as Led Zeppelin, Queen, Van Halen, Guns N Roses, Iron Maiden, Tori Amos and Dream Theater, to name a few.
Ishtar in its various incarnations (active 2000 – 2008, reformed 2010) has had numerous highlights including playing to a packed out Aotea Square during a New Years gig & releasing 2 EPs (South of Sanity (2006) and the internet only release Ambigram (2007). Ishtar scored airplay on numerous indie and student Rock stations across NZ, featured on a Tsunami charity CD 'Reconstruction' & filmed a yet to be released Video for their song 'South Of Sanity'
Ishtar went on Hiatus in 2008, Vocalist Mel Wright needing more time for her studies, Drummer Dave Cannon leaving for the UK & Bassist Jamie Denton taking off for Canada, and Simone- well our Transgendered Guitar Goddess had some transitioning to do. Ishtar folded in July 2008, the vocals being handled by Naquadah vocalist Lou Theobald...
