ARTIST: Black River Drive

Black River Drive songwriter Sam Browne has been writing music since around 2001 but in 2008, he finally found the people that could take his songs and breathe life into them. Black River Drive was born.

Influenced by bands as diverse as New Order, Massive Attack, Ryan Adams, The Killers, Smashing Pumpkins and REM, Black River Drive has a sound that is both familiar and difficult to pin down.

First song "Everywhere" was recorded at York Street Studios in Sept 2008 with Greg Haver and Clint Murphy (with Chris Grant of DDub on drums).

Stylistically the song moves effortlessly between searing razorblade rock riffs you can sink your teeth into and moments of calm clarity. Oasis-style swagger meets the driving rock of the Killers, coupled with a vocal sound that is entirely their own.

What an awesome song. I heard it a while ago on "The Rock" and fell in love with it straight away.

The vocalist is unique and so is the sound...it's not typically Kiwi IMO.

I hope they go onto bigger and better things...touring perhaps?

Any more music from this band and when will an album come out?

Awesome - kick-arse! Sweet thick sound - convincing vocals. Urgent vibe. I love this.
