ARTIST: Kartel
Kartel was formed in Feb 2004, after a family reunion between the founding members Don Siluuga and his cousin AXE.
Kartel burst onto the NZ music scene with their debut single "PRETTY EYES" which became a popular summer jam on major radio stations.
At the same time Don started his own record label, Number17, which KARTEL signed to.
Don writes and arranges all their music and is responsible for recording Kartel's demos at home before hitting the studio.
Not being signed to a major record label hasn't stopped KARTEL from trying to fulfill their dreams and show people that individuals can do it!!
KARTEL hope to finish their first album sometime in 2005 but understand that they'll need to put some hard yards in to acheive their goal.
Kartel have a unique sound which mixes hiphop and RnB while adding their own pacific flava....
