TrinityRoots

TrinityRoots comprised of three of New Zealand's most acclaimed artists – Warren Maxwell (lead vocals/guitars/keys), Rio Hunuki-Hemopo (bass/vocals) and Riki Gooch (drums/vocals)– who together embodied the New Zealand groove that was ground breaking in Aotearoa's roots scene.
During their 7 years together, TrinityRoots created a large and loyal fan base through hypnotic live performances which included evocative rhythms and harmonies steeped in a lineage of soul, reggae and roots that transcend the boundaries defined by genre.

Awesome thanks mate!! Hopefully they will sell them online as I live in London now (former Wellingtonian)...gutted I'll be missing out on their gig, i was hoping for the last 5 years they would get together.
Looking forward to their surprises!
Posted by Jess McElwain 6.44PM, 13 Sep 2010Hey Jess - I've checked and TrinityRoots say "Wait and see". Guess that means they've still got a few surprises up their sleeves. Or they haven't thought about merch yet. One or the other anyway.
Posted by Itchy Pasquali 10.36AM, 13 Sep 2010Hey guys - does anyone know if they will be re-releasing the Huffer Trinity Roots tshirts that were being sold 5 or so years ago before they broke up? Would love to get my hands on one!!
Posted by Jess McElwain 6.43PM, 12 Sep 2010Ends up the reason that the offensive word was removed from Home, Land and Sea was that Warren didn't want his mother to hear him swearing.
Rob Man - it was censored in the original version too, not just the re-released version.
Posted by Itchy Pasquali 12.09PM, 10 Sep 2010Hey DKNO, no sweat mate. I truly do love reggae, listening to some Alton Ellis & The Heptones at the moment. When I am back in NZ, as I do travel a lot for work, I actively seek out reggae gigs, I've found the Sanfran Bath House in Wellingon an awesome venue for such gigs, the bands right in your face. I guess I'm close to the oldest guy there. Unfortunately it looks like I'll be away for the Trinity gig in Wellington on the 23rd October. It's a pity NZ anti smoking laws have deprived such gigs the "Atmosphere" to truly savour the music. If you get to see Trinity Roots, it is I who is now envious of you. Enjoy.
Posted by Gordon Brown 3.56AM, 10 Sep 2010Go Trinity!! see ya at the show!!
Gordon, I envy you being old enough to attend that legendary festival.
Posted by DKNO 9.32PM, 9 Sep 2010If it was a bit of nostalgia & "real reggae" that you were expecting from Trinity Roots then perhaps that's why it wasn't up to your Original Rasta standard.
I would go and watch this band, as I believe you can only be a true critic if you listen to them from all angles. But I'd also be prepared to walk if I thought they were crap.
Posted by Gordon Brown 4.34AM, 9 Sep 2010I've been spoilt listening to some very good Reggae, and consider myself to be fortunate to have been able to attend the very 1st Reggae Sunsplash festival held outside of Jamaica, in the days when black & white tv was the norm, and the flashest car on the road was Ford Zephyr. Hey Mr. Editor, (I feel a song coming on), don't knock Kirckaldy, my aunt and uncle live there, I spent many a summer there freezing to death on the banks of the Firth of Forth, and I took my "kiwi" daughters there to visit them only last year. And Cowdenbeath have a shit soccer team. Jah Man.....
Hey "DKNO". How would I have been able to make a fair judgement of the album if I had not listened to the whole of it? I persevered actually hoping it was going to get better as judging by the comments, some of the track were supposed to be "amazing". At least I have the balls to say what I think about it, and be critical and use my real name. Just for your interest, I was listening to "real reggae" and smoking Ganja with "REAL" Rastas when you were probably a sperm in your old man's ball bag. Those guys were just strumming guitars. DKNO = "Don't Know Nothing Obviously". Am I correct?
Posted by Gordon Brown 4.22AM, 9 Sep 2010Thanks for your efforts in clearing that Censoring issue up, I appreciate it. Pity they didn't re-release the original to accompany the movie and renewed interest. Cheers.
