Ben Fulton

Ben was born October 19th, 1975 in Hawkes Bay, NZ. After a brief foray into criminal psychology at Victoria University in Wellington he went on to the Wellington Conservatoire of Music to study jazz guitar. Around this time he also set up the Guitar Teaching Centre. In 1997, Ben was a founding member of Funkatron which was voted one of NZ's top live acts in 1999 and he also worked as a freelance musician for various other artists.

Ben decided he wanted to focus on working as a solo artist and was partly inspired to follow this course by another local singer/songwriter Paul Ubana Jones.

"Touring with Paul - being around someone who is in contact with their musical self on an emotional level - opened my eyes to what we should as musicians be striving for... self-expression," he says. Ben recorded his debut solo album in 2000 and since then has done several tours around NZ and Australia. His performances have been described as "unique and inspiring" and "a wonderful chance to hear such a multifaceted musician, justifiably renowned for his acoustic wizardry."
