Shania Blaze

Shania Blaze is a 13 year old musical talent from Waitara, Taranaki and as her name suggests, she's ready to set the world of Aotearoa music ablaze.

The captivating, soulful sound of Shania Blaze is of well beyond her years and her songs evoke images of a young Maisey Rika.

She has just released her debut single Whaia Te Pae Tawhiti which was penned by her, along with two friends while still at Manukorihi Intermediate in Waitara. This song is an unforgettable story that pays tribute to the school, the town of Waitara and local iwi Te Ātiawa and she sings loving of her links to the mountain and the river.

The single is a collaboration with Koru Records and producer/guitarist Simon Gray.

Shania Blaze has now moved on to New Plymouth Girls High School, but has worked hard on recording Whaia Te Pae Tawhiti over the past six months, a song which is sung almost entirely in Maori.

As Shania's love of music was fostered through her years at Manukorihi Intermediate, Shania Blaze has decided to gift her song back to her old school.

Shania Blaze has performed a mixture of covers and her original song at many community events including Christmas Carols, the Americana car festival and a local youth concert.

In addition, Shania has been the opening act for Taranaki Reggae Band Soulovus for New Zealand music month and will share the stage with nationally famous acts Aio, Ruia and another teenage sensation Majic in Wellington for their annual Matariki festival.

In addition to these performances, Shania Blaze also has radio appearances to promote the CD release of Whaia Te Pae Tawhiti. Moving forward this gifted vocalist is looking forward to spending more time in the recording studio, laying down more original tracks and adding to her repertoire of public performances.

Shania Blaze presents a polished, professional sound that is sure to gain acclaim through not only the world of Maori music but throughout New Zealand music as a whole.
