Peachy Keen

Who were Peachy Keen?
Peachy Keen were a four-piece Auckland-based band whose sound had been described as noir lounge pop with jazz, retro and rock influences. Peachy Keen's songs ranged from satirical to theatrical to sublimely melancholy. Vocalist Kathryn van Beek has been described by the Listener as 'feline', and a track released on Monkey Records compilation 'Monkey Magic' was reviewed by the Critic as 'an excellent piece with sensual, wandering vocals'. Peachy Keen consisted of bass player, songwriter and singer Kathryn van Beek, classically trained pianist Nigel Braddock, jazz drummer Ben Lockwood and jazz/country violinist Tamasin Taylor.
