Greg has chosen the Nelson-based group Weave to open his show. They are an original acoustic trio made up of June Fallen, Santosha Phillips and Leo Barrer.

"I grew up listening to Simon & Garfunkel," says Greg "so when I heard these Nelson guys I was taken right away. Tight tunes, great voices. It's Folk folks." Weave formed in early 2011 and had its debut gig at the Nelson Festival of Opportunities in March.

Frontman Leo Haszard (Nelson) heads a group of diverse and talented performers, the core a threesome of family/whanau made up of Leo, his brother Jake Gabriel (West Coast) and father Rob Barrer (Marlborough). Rob has been actively involved in the creation of original music and performance art for over three decades. He recognised a talent in his sons, and although geographically distant, the three were drawn together by their passion for real and exploratory sound. Other featured artists include Lori Asquith, Ana Iti, Sharon Ware, Hannibal, Phil Knapp and Robbie Reedy.

Silverwoodstudio is more than a band, although they perform live at various events. Silverwoodstudio is a concept, founded on traditions of deep musical roots, encompassing folk, blues and soul, fusing into country and rock, and tempered by diverse multi-cultural influences.
Each artist contributes from their own strengths and experience, ranging from self-taught through to formalised music training. They combine vocal, acoustic and primal sound with electronic and computerised instrumentation, using fusion to meld together a range of musical genres that refuse to be conveniently labelled.

Silverwoodstudio had 3 number one hits on the Cashbox Magazine charts in 2008, and went on to take a hat-trick of Golden Kayaks in the annual online Indie awards for the Independent Artist Company & Cashbox Magazine, drawing an audience of 87,000 listeners on Sunday 6th April 2008.

Ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you...I'm a sucker for didgereedoo, but this is outstanding! The production on this tune is clear as a mountain spring beckoning you inward and onward into a sweeping instrumental panorama, that builds to a powerful rhythmic shift at the halfway mark. There isn't enough hyperbole to encompass the coolness of Gondwana

Gondwana, a didgeridoo and classical guitar tune conceived by Leo was put online and reached # no.1 in the �World Genre� and eventually became the Kiac Song of the year winning a Golden Kayak award in 2008. In fact Silverwoodstudio was nominated for 3 awards in 3 separate genres by the IAIA (International Academy of Independent Artists) out of 35,000 tunes. At an online broadcast to 87,000 listeners they won all three. With You Now won best Live Performance for 2007. Membrane over Liquid Velvet won best Ambient Song for 2007 and Gondwana best World Music song for 2007
