OdESSA

OdESSA emerged out of the Wellington indie scene in 2002 and were one of the country's best live acts of the decade.
Their style was a collision of R&B, Pop and Country. An ecstatic early reviewer described it as Garage-Funk and the tag stuck.
They were perhaps best known for their underground hit Bring The Money Back which became used in short films, sports programmes, television advertisments and popular local TV shows with such ubiquity that the band dicontinued playing it live for 18 months before the release of their debut album...

OdESSA's album "The Prize"
not given a fair go by critics but the fans loved it.
Shame, like all albums now, people record on ipods etc, and then everyone copies.
Not good for all music.
Would like to say my favourite tracks are, I think, because love most of them...
The Prize,
Bleeder and
Are you calling.
They are for me, amazing and catchy songs, with great combination of lyrics and music. On stage they are so exciting and Pender's dance and presentation unique.
OdESSA is very much a visual act.big stage with full lighting!
Would have loved to have seen them on a big big stage.
Posted by Andrea Pender 9.37PM, 4 Aug 2009These songs were also loved by fans who sang along and demanded more! and for some reason? NOT aclaimed as they should have been by critics.
Sad OdESSA will be no more, they will be so missed.
Farewell tour will be highly supported I'm sure.
