Planet Paris
Nikki Donovan and Don McKenzie formed Planet Paris a decade ago. Their recently released second album, Out of the Blue (Inland Sea), is another friendly collection of the duo's original songs. Donovan, who started writing songs in the 1970s, met guitarist and studio enthusiast McKenzie (he played with Dinah Lee and Mr Lee Grant in the 60s) at Tai Poutini Polytechnic where he was an audio engineering tutor. With touches of pop, jazz, folk and dance blended into a happy marriage, Out of the Blue features warm and welcoming melodies, cosy vocals and tasteful arrangements...
