The name 'Departure Lounge' is a reflection of the transitory nature and the emotive yet relaxed style of this musical project.
Departure Lounge follows in the tradition of Central's Reggae / Dub group- The Otautahi Allstars , being the second such band Oakley selectively commandeered Christchurch musicians to perform and record with.
Stylistically different but similar in concept and notoriety- both the Allstars and Departure Lounge accrued a strong reputation throughout NZ for their soulful grooves and vibrant instrumentation in their brief existence and even briefer performance schedule...
