Formed in 1990, the Group quickly rose to notoriety in the Auckland live scene playing such classic venues as; The Dog Club, The Pelican Bar, The Gluepot, Bob Bar, Squid, Papa Jack's and The PowerStation (we had venues back then). The Band received favorable reviews time and time again, gig after gig.
This was one of the few New Zealand Groups that managed to maintain its original line up form conception to demise ( Tosh Graham - Vox, Deryck Hunt - Drums, Gareth Price - Guitar, Robert Young - Bass). With the inclusion of Matt Brown as Rhythm Guitarist in 1998.
During the period the Band was together it embarked on X6 National tours of our fair country. Released X2 Albums; Extended Pleasure of Reality & Propeller/Propeller. Released X4 Singles; 12 Shades of Blue, Before Heaven, Otherwise & Play Dumb. Released X2 EP's; David's Mistake & Refrain. They made X6 Video clips; Before Heaven, Otherwise, Henry XXL, Play Dumb, Suva Yatch Club & Repeat the Question. Then there was the plethora of International supports the band secured; Jesus Jones, Tragically Hip, Paw, Neds Atomic Dustbin, Super Chunk, Big Audio Dynamite II, Fugazi, Tool in (AK, WGN & CHCH), to name but a few. Credit must be given to Stuart Broughton , the Band's Manager of 6yrs. With his support and leadership, the majority of the above listed projects and attainments were made possible.
With a heavy touring schedule through 98'-99', the Group found itself waning, Losing the focus and drive to hold itself together. Finally in May of 1999 the Refrain tour was wrapped up. Practically a decade had elapsed and the music for Semi Lemon Kola/Propeller was over.
