Max Merrit & The Meteors
Max Merritt was born in Christchurch and formed his first band as a teenager, playing Sunday afternoons at the Teenagers Club, run by his parents. He first came to the attention of EMI in 1959, and recorded his first single, a top ten hit he had written called Get A Haircut. By 1962 before moving to the bright lights of Auckland the band had released a further five singles and a huge album, C'Mon Let's Go, which if you can still find it, carries a value of over $200!...
