A hearty congratulations to The Naked and Famous who are our featured artist today, they are also winners of the Silver Scroll and their album debuted at number one on the chart this week. Whatever it is they are drinking... it's working.

Release Of The Day:
The Naked & Famous - Passive Me, Aggressive You

Auckland five-piece band, The Naked and Famous present their eagerly awaited debut album, Passive Me, Aggressive You, which follows the release of two EPs in 2008 that punched well above their weight and kept fans hanging out for more of the band's unique synth pop-rock.

Passive Me, Aggressive You does not disappoint. From opening track and lead single All of This, the energy is consistent, engaging, and oozes youthful optimism. Young Blood won the band the 2010 Silver Scroll award only last week.

Solid, simple drumbeats and bass lines set the cornerstone for dirty '80s synth and distorted guitar hooks. The vocal duties are shared by Ailsa Xayalith and Thom Powers, complimenting each other well, one never overpowering the other whilst adding diversity and range to a record that is sure to be a perfect spin for the coming summer months.

Charting The Mainstream

The Naked And Famous on the back of winning the Silver Scroll bounce into this weeks album charts and hog the limelight by taking the number one position - well done!

Stan Walker holds tight at four and the greedy buggers gone got the number 21 position too. You see this is the problem with manufactured stars... they want it all. Congratulations Stan not many kiwis can claim two albums in the chart at one time.

It is going to be a week of congratulations.. as TrinityRoots release Music Is Choice has been deemed choice indeed and they debut at 8. Gin's down to 13 this week a one spot drop, Kids of 88 are sut behind at 14 and Opshop take 15.

The Dukes who are out on tour pushing their acoustic EP have taken number 23. Nesian Mystik are at 37 and finally The Phoenix Foundation are grazing at 39.

Not much action in singes land this week, seams everyone brought albums... the only notable movement in Greenland was the entry of Motocade with Holy Holy.

The Great NZ Songbook Vol 2  is at number one in the compilation charts but you'd guessed that anyway hadn't you?.
