warning to much bass may damage the fruit

01.09.10
Today marks the first official day of spring so to play the warmer months in we thought some bass orientated music might be just the ticket... but before we rattle the bass bins some of our best young musicians are set to play off at the Smokefreerockquest national final at Hamilton's Founders Theatre on September 11.
Eight acts are set to fight it out on the night alongside Guest performers J.Williams, Kids of 88 and Die!Die!Die!. Should be a fun evening so ehad along if you're in or around the tron.
Release Of The Day:
Dj Myrikal - Night Wolf EP
Wellington bred DJ & Producer Dj Myrikal has been making a lot of noise in the UK Grime scene.
Since the release of his first EP The Roads earlier this year he has been working with some of the biggest artists in the UK including M.I.K and original London city warlord Riko Dan of the pioneering Roll Deep crew, who helped launch the careers of artists like Wiley & Dizzee Rascal.
Now he is back with his second instrumental offering Night Wolf EP featuring 4 tracks that see Myrikal developing his unique brand of Bass-heavy, UK Garage influenced Grime music.
A must-have for lovers of Grime, Dubstep and Future Bass Music.
Charting The Mainstream
Our favourite, this week, Australian reality TV star leaps tall buildings and takes the number one spot in this weeks album chart. That'll be Stan Walker with From The Inside Out.
The Kids Of 88 have dropped a few spots to a still very healthy number 5 with Sugarpills their debut. Also charting well with their debut are The Earlybirds who sneak into number seven this week.
Dropping down to slot 16 we find Gin holding fort on this her 45th week in the chart with Holy Smoke. Nesian Mystik are up next for the locals with 99AD at 18 and at 19 we have Until The End Of Time from Opshop.
Street Chant come in at 30 with Means which is a tidy result for the band, who aren't really chart fodder. Fat Freddy's Live At The Roundhouse is at 35 and Dane Rumble re-enters the chart with The Experiment.
In singles land The Naked And Famous chart with Punching In A Dream their latest single and the rest is much of a muchness...
The Great NZ Songbook Vol 2debuts at number one in the compilation charts and is destined to be a popular stocking fillers if anyone is still buying presents this Christmas.
