So September will have new releases from TrinityRoots (6th), Fat Freddy's Drop (13th) and Concord Dawn (20th).... stink!
Hollie Smith is out on the road over the next few weeks taking her live show to six towns around the country. Also playing some shows are Fly My Pretties and fans will be excited to know these shows will held be outdoors at a couple of vineyards in January - take a note of that date now so not to forget it.
A new act doing the rounds over October is the the Erica Miller Experience, Erica and friends will perform four shows during the month.
Getting back to Hollie, she has also launched a remix competition for her latest single 'Hiding' from the #1 album Humour and the misfortune of others. Head along to holliesmith.co.nz to find the stems for this track, download them, and then the track is yours to play with. You can even remix the song on Hollie's site. This is a chance for the public to not only remix a song from one of NZ's best albums of 2010, but also have the chance to feature on a repackage album of Humour and The Misfortune Of Others. The remix competition closes on October 10. Hands up whose doing a dubstep remix...
We're happy, you happy?
Release Of The Day:
Tommy Ill - Tommy Ill
Three EPs in, prolific MC, Tommy Ill, is a svelte yet metaphorically obese young man - as his proverbial belt is having to be stretched yet again to make room for his self-titled debut LP.
Tommy Ill combines all his powers of past EPs with a new rap repertoire, kind of like when the Planeteers combined their powers to summon Captain Planet.
The result - a fresh take on past offerings mingled with completely new tracks. You can also still expect songs that tackle the everyday issues of hangovers, heartache and bills - party tracks full of dry witticisms and cheeky rhymes set to askew pop tracks from the 50s and 60s.
