To throw off the winter blues, Number One selling New Zealand band Shapeshifter are set to make their debut performance in the Cook Islands.

The band will bring their heavy soul to the tropical paradise of Rarotonga for a special charity concert. Joining the band is New Zealand favourite and Shapeshifter's legendary sound engineer Tiki Taane who will perform an acoustic set.

The concert will take place at the Club Raro Resort on Thursday 2 September local time (Friday 3 September NZST). Proceeds from the concert will go to the Cook Island Voyaging Society and towards relief for the victims of Aitutaki's Cyclone Pat.

To add to the occasion, the band will travel to Rarotonga on a special Pacific Blue "Shapeshifter flight" departing Auckland on Monday 30 August.

Anyone want to shout the amplifier office on a Cook Island outing?

Release Of The Day:
Andy Gibson - Night Rolls Open

Andy Gibson. Experimental pop artist. Of the singer-songwriter tradition, heavily influenced by the kid-a/vespertine syndrome, or is it the i-care-way-too-much syndrome? His influences include Bright Eyes, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Bic Runga. lyrically, Andy's songs tackle human issues, addressing both personal and global struggles.

In 2007, he released Behind the I, a carefully crafted album of melodic indie pop songs with strands of electronica and folk.

Night Rolls Open is his latest long player and was recorded in Raglan, September 2009.
