Amplifier contains more music than you could shake a stick at, so much so that it can be a daunting prospect to just wander the site and find things that appeal, so every day we offer up a selected release here for your consideration and provide gig picks and other tasty morsels to help make your visit as rewarding as possible.

Today we have a new album and artist on the site and also a timely reminder for those interested that our Shapeshifter competition closes tomorrow, so don't delay if you want to enter.

Righto, it is 6am and I'm off to watch the footie and ahve a coffee... have a cracking day

Release Of The Day:
Wires & Wood - Over The Moon

Wires and Wood is a four piece band inspired by the sounds of traditional and modern bluegrass music. They provide a high standard of musicianship on banjo, mandolin, guitar and bass and play the hard driving punchy style of bluegrass through to heart melting slow waltzes. As well as striving for instrumental excellence the band also love to infuse their songs with multipart harmony singing.

This album is entitled Over The Moon from the name of a tune written by the band's banjo player, Bryan Christianson. The opening number Bluegrass Heaven was penned by bass player Garry Trotman and the remaining songs are the work of people such as Tim O'Brien, Bob Dylan, Bill Monroe and others.

High octane bluegrass!
