Chart Action

03.03.10
I ventured out the other night to see the 3D's and Pavement at Auckland's Town Hall and what a cracking show they both put on... it wasn't a late one yet here we are two days later and still feeling tired.
Perhaps I am getting old or need something to perk me up... I think I'll try today's featured release and see how I get on.
In the news; Sola Rosa have announced some forthcoming tour dates - with more to come. The band are planning to head over sea's to Australia and Europe over the coming months so don't miss this chance to see them before they go.
Today's featured release
Aum - Happiness
Happiness is the latest release from Hamilton electronic duo AUM and features five new tracks from the two producers delving into the more Ambient/Downbeat realms of electronic music.
Taking a step back from their Dec 09 Dubstep release titled Aletheia, the Happiness EP conjures up an at times 'Eno' like nostalgia with a contemporary twist on modern production values and rich sonic textures, inducing moments of both beauty and uneasiness.
Auckland based Comic Artist Moskonovitch supplied the artwork for the EP which further illustrates the contrast and differing direction of this release, as a digital package.
Chart Attack
Gin holds onto the number one spot in this week's album charts with Stan Walker dropping one place to number four.
Then there is a big drop to our next local entry, J Williams whose Young Love Collectors Edition which was released this week 're-enters' the chart at number 20. Shapeshifter are just behind at 21.
Little Bushman's collaboration with the NZSO enters the chart at
number 23 which is a great first weeks result.
Dave Dobbyn's at 27 and also at 31 with the Dobbyn, Finn & Runga's Together Live in Concert Anniversary Edition (re-package).
Finally in the album stakes comes Fat Freddy's at number 36.
Over on the singles chart things have gone crazy green since last week, with Dane Rumble, Stan Walker, J Williams feat Scribe and Nesian Mystik taking out the 5,6,7 and 8 spots respectively.
Kids Of 88 are at 15 with their new single and Gin drops another bomb from her album to claim the 24 slot with Hey Ho.
For such a wee thing she sure has a big appetite for the chart as she's also nailed the 33 spot with I Do.
The Great NZ Songbook is again at number seven this week - it just goes on and on and on, which is totally at odds with the bulk of compilation sales... go kiwi!
