The weekend starts here

16.10.09
It was a week of post Music Awards gossip, a week where Mr Business Manager had to do Monday's mail out, (cheers), because I was sick. it was the week that Mr Music Manager got new shelves for all the CDs he uses to make MP3's. So for a couple of days we relived the scene from High Fidelity where main character Rob re-arranges his music collection - for now he's gone with a very formal alphabetical system, I doubt it'll stay.
It has been a great week for NZ Music at Amplifier towers.
Release Of The Day
The Windy City Strugglers - Time Comes Around
Time Comes Around brings together one disc of the standout recordings of one of New Zealand's longest-running bands, Wellington's Windy City Strugglers.
Most of the songs have appeared on previous albums, have been performed extensively on stage by the Strugglers over the years and are time-tested favourites. Also featured are two hitherto unreleased songs, recorded just this year (Ah Oui and When The Tanks Roll In).
Though formed in the late 60s as a jug band specializing in vintage country-blues, the Strugglers' recording career only really began in 1989 when Bill Lake and Rick Bryant decided to record some of this material for We're In The Same Boat, Brother.
Inspired by the results, the Strugglers became increasingly active over the following decade, performing around New Zealand and recording two award-winning albums.
Over the years the music has evolved into a free-ranging style that reflects the taste of individual Strugglers and continues to echo the band's formative influences.

Kittentank - 100 Days
Living in Dunedin in the mid 2000's amid the profusion of noise, pop and electro acts filling the cities galleries, venues and flats, Frank Eggleton formed the one-man act Kittentank.
At the end of 2008 he decided he wanted to play with a band again, so he got his friends Dorian (Drums) and Kristen (Guitars, Vox) to join him, they played several gigs before thinking the more the merrier, now Kittentank is a 6 piece.
They have a EP set for release and are out on tour to spread the Kittentank sound.
Check out 100 Days this weeks free download for a peek at the new EP.
